We hold a diverse collection of records and artefacts that can help you research
genealogy, properties, local government, events, military history, businesses,
organizations and more!

Archival Research

Appointments are required for research in the Reading Room. NCAM staff are available
to support your research during your appointment. There is no fee to hold an
appointment, however fees for copies, scans and extended research services apply.

Collections

As the official repository for the municipalities of Alnwick/Haldimand, Brighton, and
Cramahe, we hold government records from the past 200 years, including:

  • Council minutes and bylaws
  • Assessment and collector rolls
  • Birth, marriage and death registrations

Over 300 individuals and organizations have donated items dating from the early 19th
century to the present day. Our private sector collections include land records, business
and organization records, family papers, photographs, letters, newspapers, artwork,
artefacts, textiles, furniture, and more!

Schools and Teachers

Coming Soon! Educational field trips will be available on Tuesdays for two-hour visits in
the morning or afternoon that align with Ontario curriculum.
